Rachel & Chris

Often when I talk about wedding plans with couples, I encourage them to see each other before the ceremony.  They get a special moment in private and I get some super great shots.  Then, the tension is broken and we can shoot all the family photos.  Perfecto!

I can’t believe Thanksgiving is here

“What does Thanksgiving have to do with this post?” you say.  Well, nothing.  This semester is flying by.  We took some family pics last weekend.  A funny thing about living in Abilene is the weather.  They say, (I’m not sure who “they” are, but “they” are always saying things.) “If you don’t like the weather [...]

Who are you shooting for? (Or…For whom are you shooting?)

I heard a saying about photography when I was a baby photographer.  (Not a literal baby.)  The saying goes something like this:  You either shoot for you, for the client, or for the audience.  I think this adage is interesting when it comes to choosing the final photos.  After a shoot, I usually work up [...]

Portfolio

Here is my portfolio.  These are my home run shots.  But there’s something you should know about photographers.  When you hire a shooter, you need to see what her ordinary work looks like.  When she shoots a wedding, sure, there are these three amazing shots.  But what do you really get when she shoots your [...]

Megan & Jason

But here’s the thought [...]

Building an Altar

In the Old Testament, the Israelites had the practice of making an altar when God did something incredible. It was a way to remember; a physical, tangible marker of something incredible. So many times, I think photography is like this–it’s an altar built for new marriages, new people (babies), and new families. I have a [...]

Off the Beaten Path

Well, if you know me, you know it’s no secret that I love to hunt.  I don’t own a Blackie (AR15), but I NEEEEEED one.  Ha ha.  I got hooked up with this company who custom builds ARs.  We shot these (are you getting my double entendre here?) on the garage floor.    They came [...]

Bridal Pics

Okay, I know.  These are not bridals.  The difficult thing about taking bridals is that you can’t show them to anyone for sometimes months on end.  Boo!  So in other words, the project you’re sometimes most excited about displaying, you can’t. Well, here are some pics I shot last week.
